Ο θάνατος της Λατρείας του Κθούλου, και η προσωπική μου γνώμη στην όλη υπόθεση

Το 2019 όταν πρωτοξεκίνησα το ταξίδι μου προς το απόκρυφο, έχοντας ένα κάλεσμα προς την Μυθολογία Κθούλου, έπεσα στην ιστοσελίδα της "Επίσημης Λατρείας του Κθούλου", (The Official Cult of Cthulhu, εν συντομία O.C.O.C) που την ίδρυσε κάποιος εν ονόματι Wyntre. Δεν θα μιλήσω τόσο για το πως ξεκίνησα να συμμετάσχω σε αυτό το cult αλλά να περιγράψω την πορεία της σέκτας μέσα από μαρτυρίες (συμπεριλαμβανομένου και εμένα) και πηγές. 

Η Σέκτα αυτή είχε ως ιερό της κείμενο το Bible of Cthulhu, που όπως αποδείχτηκε ο Wyntre πήρε το έργο του Venger Asnas Satanis και το έγραψε με δικά του λόγια, προσθέτοντας και λίγο από το δικό του υλικό. Αυτά λέγονται από τους Nyths (Τίτλος για τα άτομα που δούλευαν για το Cult) που μέλος τους ήμουν κάποτε και εγώ...

Πράγματι είχα παρατηρήσει κάποιες ομοιότητες με τα έργα του Venger όταν διάβαζα συγκεκριμένα το βασικό βιβλίο της παλιάς λατρείας του Κθούλου το Cthulhu Cult, που δημοσίευσε το 2007. Βέβαια δεν τελείωσα ποτέ τα έργα του Venger οπότε δεν μπορώ να εκφράσω την άποψη ότι η παραπάνω πληροφορία περί αντιγραφής ισχύει (αν και δεν έχω καμία αμφιβολία να την πιστέψω) αλλά είμαι από αυτούς τους εκνευριστικούς που θέλω να κάνω μία έρευνα από δεύτερο χέρι από μόνος μου. 

Μία διαφορά που όντως παρατήρησα μεταξύ των δύο βιβλίων είναι το κομμάτι περί της μαγείας και πραγματικότητας. Αν και η παλιά σέκτα της Λατρείας του Κθούλου ήταν ανοιχτή στον κόσμο της μαγείας, με την έννοια ότι το κάθε μέλος μπορεί να κάνει ότι θέλει, με σκοπό να ξεφύγει από την πραγματικότητα όπου είναι φυλακισμένος! Δηλαδή από τους περιορισμούς που του έχει θέση η κοινωνία, άλλες θρησκείες αλλά και ο ίδιος του ο νους! 

Στην σέκτα του Wyntre τώρα η μαγεία καταπολεμήθηκε σαν ένα εργαλείο το οποίο χρειαζόταν να αφήσουμε πίσω μιας και δεν υπάρχει καμία επιστημονική απόδειξη για αυτό, και ότι η οποιαδήποτε προσπάθεια μαγικής τελετουργίας πρόκριτε για αυθυποβολή.  Που υπό μία έννοια δεν έχει άδικο. Όντως το μεγαλύτερο ποσοστό δύναμης της μαγείας βρίσκεται στην ψυχολογία του ανθρώπου. Μέχρι που ο Wyntre τα βρήκε κάπως σκούρα. Πριν από ένα χρόνο περίπου κυκλοφόρησε έναν τόμο (και ίδρυσε μια υποομάδα) το Order of Dagon, Field Guide to Scientific Magick.  Αν και δεν έχω το συγκεκριμένο βιβλίο στην κατοχή μου, (που πλέον δεν υπάρχει στο κατάστημα της ιστοσελίδας της σέκτας για τον λόγο ότι ένα μέλος της ομάδας είχε δώσει υλικό στον Wyntre για το βιβλίο απαίτησε μετά από όλη την ιστορία αυτήν που θα διαβάσετε να αφαιρεθεί από το κατάστημα) από τις λίγες σελίδες που είχαν δημοσιευτεί στο discord της ομάδας, θα γράψω περί τίνος πρόκειται. 

Το συγκεκριμένο βιβλίο είχε στόχο αυτό που ο Wyntre αποκαλούσε "Επιστημονική Μαγεία" δηλαδή την πράξη της μαγείας χρησιμοποιώντας την επιστημονική μέθοδο! Με αυτό ήθελε να βάλει στόχο την πλήρως κατάρριψη της μαγείας...και δεν το πέτυχε! Στο Bible of Cthulhu στο κεφάλαιο On Magick στον τόμο του Yog-Sothoth, αποκλείει την πιθανότητα της φύσης της κατάρας, χρησιμοποιώντας το μοντέλο με τις κούκλες, που ύστερα πρέπει ο μάγος να τις αφήσει έξω από το σπίτι. Το αποτέλεσμα είναι να το δει το θύμα οπότε τώρα που "γνωρίζει" ότι είναι καταραμένο το ασυνείδητο επειδή το πιστεύει αρχίζει και προκαλεί τις κακοτυχίες του ατόμου από μόνο του. Αυτή είναι η διαδικασία του Nocebo Effect που είναι το αντίθετο του Placebo δηλαδή της θετικής αυθυποβολής! Πράγματι το μεγαλύτερο κομμάτι της μαγείας δουλεύει με το ασυνείδητο. Όμως τι γίνετε με τελετές που δεν έχουν την προϋπόθεση το θύμα να γνωρίζει ότι είναι καταραμένο ή ευλογημένο; Εδώ έρχεται το παράδειγμα ενός μέλους (Έλληνα μάλιστα) που χρησιμοποίησε τον Τυφώνα και άλλα ονόματα από την Μυθολογία Κθούλου για να καταραστεί ένα άτομο δίχως εκείνο να το γνωρίζει. Το τελετουργικό επαναλήφθηκε τρείς φορές για κάθε οντότητα. Τα αποτελέσματα ήταν εντυπωσιακά! Από κοινούς φίλους το μέλος πληροφορήθηκε ότι το θύμα απολύθηκε από την δουλεία του, αλλά και ότι η μητέρα του διαγνώστηκε με το τελευταίο στάδιο καρκίνου που ύστερα από δύο μέρες ξεψύχησε! Τραγικό εάν το σκεφτούμε αλλά ταυτόχρονα άκρως εντυπωσιακό. 

Ένα άλλο πείραμα από άλλο μέλος αφορούσε την κηπουρική. Τα δείγματα ήταν 12 βολβοί σκόρδου και ένα αγαλματίδιο του Μέγα Κθούλου. Τους τοποθέτησε σε 12 γλαστράκια και τα τοποθέτησε σε ένα ταψί. 6 στην μία πλευρά και 6 στην άλλη. Οι βολβοί θα δεχόντουσαν την ίδια ποσότητα νερού και ηλιακής ακτινοβολίας (φως ηλίου). Η διαφορά είναι ότι στην αριστερή πλευρά του ταψιού τοποθετήθηκε το αγαλματίδιο. Σκοπός του πειράματος του είναι να δει εάν τα φυτά θα επηρεαστούν και αν ναι, εάν θα το κάνουν αρνητικά ή θετικά. Το συγκεκριμένο πείραμα το δοκίμαζε ταυτόχρονα και ένα άλλο μέλος στην Γερμανία.

Το αποτέλεσμα λοιπόν ήταν τα φυτά στην πλευρά του αγάλματος μεγάλωσαν περισσότερο, ενώ ένας βολβός και από τις δύο πλευρές, είχαν περάσει 10 μέρες και δεν είχαν βγει. Εν τέλει στην πλευρά του αγάλματος κατάφερε τελικά ο βολβός να ανοίξει. Χαρακτηριστικά ο ασκητής λέει 

"The plants asked to grow better by the guidance of the idol of reverence grew more in terms of inches. The idol of reverence plants grew a total of 13.5 inches, while the control group only grew 10.25 inches. There were some interesting variables that favored the idol of reverence plants that could be considered magical influences.

- Both the idol of reverence side and control group had a clove that did not sprout for 10 days. However a seemingly “dead” clove can be seen to begin sprouting on day ten in the lower left hand corner of the above photo. One could wonder if this clove was brought back to life, while the “dead” clove in the control group never sprouted.

- On day 14 a cat knocked down the barrier placed around the garlic plants and destroyed the largest growing plant on the control group side. Could it be that the Cthulhu idol of reverence had sabotaged the control group? Regardless, to keep the study running, the cat damaged plant, and another equal sized plant from the experimental group were removed. The study was not examining the variable of a cat.

In a parallel study run by Cultist Wolores similar results were found. 2 cloves of garlic on side with a Cthulhu statue originally, 74 centimeters of growth. The control group only saw a total of 44 centimeters of growth. So the Cthulhu plants grew a total of 29.13 inches, and the non Cthulhu plants grew 17.32 inches. That is 11.81 inches of difference in growth favoring the Cthulhu idol side." 

Είναι ένα παράξενο πείραμα. Παρόλα αυτά ο Κθούλου είναι μία χθόνια θεότητα, μιας και η λέξη χθόνιος είναι μέσα στο όνομα του, όπως και ότι είναι κατά κάποιου είδους "νεκρός", πράγμα που οι νεκροί με τον κάτω κόσμο είχαν άμεση σύνδεση. Ο Άδης είναι γνωστός και ως Πλούτων δηλαδή πλούτος. Διότι τα πλούτη έρχονται από κάτω από το έδαφος. Και δεν είναι μόνο τα μέταλλα (χρυσός, χαλκός κτλπ) αλλά και τα φυτά. Στην μυθολογία Κθούλου η συγκεκριμένη αλληγορία εμφανίζεται στην ιστορία "Η Σκιά Πάνω από το Ίννσμουθ", όπου οι Αβυσσαίοι φέρνουν πλούτη (χρυσό και πολύτιμα κοσμήματα) σε όσους έχουν ασπαστεί το Εσωτερικό Τάγμα του Ντάγκον. Να σημειώσουμε ότι ο Ντάγκον στα αρχαία χρόνια λατρευόταν και ως θεός της γεωργίας. Οπότε το αποτέλεσμα έχει ενδιαφέρον.

Τώρα ας αφήσουμε λίγο στην άκρη την αντίληψη της μαγείας του Wyntre και τα περίεργα "μαγικά" πειράματα, και ας περάσουμε στο κυρίως πιάτο.

Ο λόγος που η σέκτα αυτή έκλεισε είναι διότι ο Wyntre αποπλάνησε ένα μέλος της ομάδας, και μετά την απειλούσε λέγοντας της ότι εάν δεν του στείλει χρήματα, θα την έδιωχνε από το O.C.O.C αλλά και θα έδειχνε τις γυμνές φωτογραφίες που του είχε στείλει στους γονείς της. Το παρακάτω κείμενο το δημοσίευσε η νέα ομάδα Temple of the Old Ones, που την διαχειρίζονται μέλη του πλέον νεκρού O.C.O.C:

"Dear Cultists, we hope your holiday season and new years have gone amazingly.

We apologise for all pain caused in advance; however, we need to bring to light a number of disturbing allegations that have been plaguing the Cult for the last month.

On the 7^th of December 2022, the Unholy Trinity were made aware of an allegation against Wyntre, made by a long-standing Cultist. This allegation pertained to contact back around March of 2021, where Wyntre solicited naked pictures from said Cultist. Said Cultist then alleges that in the week before January 7^th, Wyntre conducted a “Thought Experiment” with said cultist, whereby said cultist and Wyntre were in a personal chat on the Telegram phone application. In this chat, Wyntre allegedly requested that money be sent to a PayPal address, and intimated that if this was not done, he would send the naked pictures he received to said cultist’s family members, whose facebooks he posted links of in the Telegram Chat.

Initially these allegations were thought to be incredible, however said cultist provided the Unholy Trinity with full access to their historical messages on Discord. These messages were independently verified via screen sharing, and were proven to be credible. The messages in question were concerning, and difficult to look at. Before proceeding, these messages took place between 2 consenting adults over the age of 18, this has been admitted by said cultist.

The messages themselves were believed to be an abuse of power and authority by the Unholy Trinity, and without posting any specific images, contained sexually explicit content. The Trinity were also concerned, as the manner in which the messages were sent by Wyntre, indicated that he was forcing secrecy, under duress of said cultist being permanently banned from the cult.

The second allegation of blackmail could not be investigated or proven by the Trinity, as there were no screenshots or other evidence, aside from the allegation made.

After very lengthy deliberation and investigation by the Unholy Trinity, as well as the former Harbinger of the cult, it was decided that the allegations would be posed to Wyntre in order for him to answer. These allegations were posed to him, under the pretence that no screenshots or other evidence was available.

In his initial response, Wyntre lied, vehemently denying the allegations, painting the cultist as a liar who lives in a make belief world, and using techniques which the Trinity believe were used to gaslight them into believing Wyntre’s story.

Once the screenshots were posed to him, he changed his story, now admitting that sexual contact had been made, and images received. In his messages, Wyntre was not honest, or forthcoming with information, and utilised techniques which were believed by the Trinity to subvert and divert from the issues at hand, and distract from the main investigation. Wyntre continued to vehemently deny the allegations of Blackmail.

Wyntre was told that these allegations would not be kept secret, and that the community would have to be made aware, so as to not follow in the hypocrisy of right-hand path religions. In response to this, Wyntre once again attempted to sway the Trinity into keeping the allegations internal, and stated that as the cult is an organisation which has helped so many people, and will continue to help people, there is no need to ruin everything. This was not accepted by the Trinity, and Wyntre was told that the allegations would be discussed regardless. Wyntre accepted this, but asked that the Trinity hold off until after the holiday season, as to not ruin everyone’s holidays, which the Trinity agreed to.

On January the 2^nd 2023, all Head Nyth were made aware of the allegations. A number of lengthy discussions were had over the course of a few days, and after all the pain, disappointment, and loss of trust, the Heads and Trinity came to a conclusion that may have benefited the cult and propelled us into a new age.

Wyntre is an extremely hard working individual; with writing the entire material for the outer circle (3 full scale books for the order of no name), working on a complete revamp of the website, the shop, Black Book of Nyarlathotep, Scarlet Book of Shub Nigurath, creating an entire album for Bow Down, up until recently working a full time job, and other tasks not named here, it is easy to see that all of this work might get on top of someone, and facets of the community would undoubtedly start failing.

It is no secret that the Shop and Bible shipping has not been working for a very long time. With deliveries of up to 4+ months, this system is completely unacceptable, as well as cultists waiting for their Ascendant exams to be graded for over a year now, these cracks were slowly starting to make themselves apparent.

It was proposed to Wyntre, that in order for the entire Nyth Teams to remain in positon, and continue to work, 3 things would have to be done.

1. All the allegations against Wyntre would be made public. This would serve in the interest of openness and transparency, and would allow us to practice what we preach, by going against the hypocrisy of the right-hand path religions.

2. Wyntre would step down as Purveyor of the cult, and from now on, instead of having an autocratic system where only he is in charge, we would create a new bureaucratic system, where Wyntre and the Unholy Trinity would form a board of 4, and would now have to agree to a majority vote to make large decisions. This would also work as Wyntre could focus on the creative and spiritual side of the Cult, whilst the Trinity could focus on the day-to-day operations, like fixing the shop, the Miskatonic University, and other major issues which were starting to become apparent. This would essentially divide Wyntre’s workload into 4, allowing for a new system of efficiency.

After taking a 3 day long break to deliberate this decision, Wyntre came back and notified the Trinity that he believed the best solution would be to “return to the underground slumber from which it started”, branding the idea of a board as “the enemy of freedom and progress”. Wyntre’s current plan is to remove all the facets of the community on which the 30 strong team of Nyth has been working on for over 3 years now, and return to having a website and a forum.

The Unholy Trinity believe that this is a cop out, and a way for Wyntre to supress the allegations against him. This combined with the removal of access for numerous Nyth to a few key facets of the community, has led us to make this announcement, before we lose the ability to speak the truth, and a white washed once sided announcement is made to lead you into believing that this is somehow the right path to proceed.

From everyone the Nyth Teams, we would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for everything you have done to make this community what it is today. We all sacrifice our time and energy to make this community what it is, so that people like you can enjoy the material we provide.

The last 3 years have been an incredible journey, and we would not have given it away for the world. Many among us have created incredible and visceral experiences, as well as connections which will last us a lifetime.

Unfortunately, the dream of creating a new world has not worked out for us, with the biggest pain and grief being that none of us were responsible for the actions of the man at the top. From the man writing this text, this will serve as a life lesson to be weary of placing too much trust in a single person, and an autocratic system.

We love each and everyone of you, and we thank you for giving us the best few years of our lives.

Η ομάδα πλέον ακούει στο όνομα Temple of the Old Ones. Το Temple of the Old Ones (T.O.O)  δουλεύει το δικό του βιβλίο που θα αντικαταστήσει το Bible of Cthulhu. Ένα μέλος από τους Nyths ωστόσο ο Adam ή γνωστός ως Thaumaturge, αποχώρισε από την ομάδα για δικούς του λόγους όταν τον ρώτησα για τον λόγο της αποχώρισης του που δεν θα αποκαλύψω μιας και δεν είναι κάτι σημαντικό που χρειάζεται να το "βγάλω στην φόρα". Ο ίδιος γράφει ένα βιβλίο με τίτλο The Viridian Sect που δεν θα πω τίποτα παραπάνω για αυτό, διότι έδωσα τον λόγο μου ότι δεν θα πω τίποτα παραπάνω. O Adam φρόντισε να ενημερωθεί το Αυστραλιανό κράτος ότι ο Wyntre δεν πληρώνε τους φόρους του όσα χρόνια είχε την επιχείρηση Cult of Cthulhu και τώρα ο ίδιος βρίσκεται κυνηγημένος. Ο Wyntre είχε ανακοινώσει όσο ήμουν και εγώ στην...ομάδα του, ότι ένα συγκρότημα Μέταλ μουσικής θα έκανε τραγούδια για το cult. Αποδείχτηκε λοιπόν ότι αυτό που πλάσαρε ο Wyntre ήταν η μπάντα που ο ίδιος είναι ντράμερ σε αυτήν! Και την πληροφορία την δέχτηκα από ένα μέλος που εξακολουθούσε να είναι στους Nyths για λίγο παραπάνω καιρό, πριν και αυτός παραιτηθεί. Μου χαρακτήρισε τον Wyntre ως Ναρκισσιστή και κακό άνθρωπο που γενικά δεν εκτίμησε την δουλεία του. Για ένα μικρό χρονικό διάστημα ήμουν και εγώ Nyth και ήμουν ένας από τους υπευθύνους που έτρεχαν την σελίδα της ομάδας στο Amino. Σε κάποια φάση λοιπόν το βιβλίο του Wyntre έπεσε στα μάτια του Scott R Jones, συγγραφέα του When the Stars Are Right. Ο Scott διάβασε μόνο μία σελίδα από το βιβλίο που βρήκε κάπου στο Facebook από την ενότητα 2 (Tome of Yog-Sothoth) κεφάλαιο 2 (The Great Old One) την πρώτη σελίδα. Ο Wyntre στον discord server των Nyths μας έβαλε να φτιάξουμε ψεύτικους λογαριασμούς της Amazon και ανά μεγάλα χρονικά διαστήματα, ανά άτομο να γράψουμε μια πολύ κακή αξιολόγηση για το βιβλίο του Scott για να πέσει το έργο του. Μας είπε ότι θα το κάναμε αυτό για να γίνει παράδειγμα για τους άλλους και καλά για το τι γίνεται όταν τα βάζεις με το cult και να αποδείξει την δύναμη της ομαδικής δουλείας. Μας ανέθεσε επίσης να βρούμε "αποδείξεις" ότι το έργο του Scott είναι ακατάλληλο, για παράδειγμα, σε ένα σημείο του βιβλίου ο Scott μιλούσε αλληγορικά η ειρωνικά και υπήρχε η λέξη βιασμός μέσα σε αυτό, οπότε καταλαβαίνουμε όλοι τι ακολούθησε. Με λίγα λόγια φτιάξαμε τα στοιχεία. Μάλιστα ο Dehyenyth έδωσε την ιδέα να αφήσουμε να εννοηθεί ότι πίσω από τις αρνητικές αξιολογήσεις κρύβεται το First United Church of Cthulhu (F.U.C.C.) η αρχικός εχθρός του O.C.O.C.

Ο Wyntre το χαρακτήρισε ιδιοφυές. Είχα εκνευριστεί τόσο, που σκέφτηκα να έστελνα όλα αυτά σε μορφή screenshot απευθείας στον Scott και τον Khurt Kave (ιδρυτή του FUCC) και μάλιστα είχα ήδη τα Screenshot. Δυστυχώς δεν το έκανα απλά έκανα αυτό που έχει ανατεθεί (προφανώς και έχω σβήσει την αξιολόγηση) και μετά παραιτήθηκα βρίσκοντας την δικαιολογία ότι δεν είχα πλέον τον χρόνο να  ασχολούμαι με το Amino, πράγμα που δεν ήταν εντελώς ψέματα, εάν το γούσταρα θα έβρισκα κενά να το κάνω, όμως δεν ήθελα να ασχοληθώ καν μετά αφού είδα τι άτομα τρέχουν την οργάνωση.
